David is an experienced Orthopaedic Upper limb surgeon based in Aberdeen. He is an NHS Consultant at both Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and Woodend hospitals and is an honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Aberdeen.
He studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh and trained in Orthopaedic surgery in the West of Scotland from 2002 to 2008. He was awarded a Fellowship at Perth Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Centre, Western Australia in 2007.
In 2017 he was appointed as an examiner for the Fellowship examination in Trauma and Orthopaedic surgery (FRCS Tr & Orth). He is also the Training Programme Director for the North of Scotland Orthopaedic Rotation and maintains an active interest in teaching and research.
David specialises in upper limb sports injuries and offers a variety of treatments including arthroscopic (keyhole) shoulder surgery, rotator cuff repair, instability surgery and joint replacement. He also performs elbow and hand surgery and has a specialist interest in elbow tendinopathy (Tennis and Golfer’s elbow).
When not at work David can usually be found cycling, fishing, golfing or walking his tireless spaniels!
