See a ROC Clinician for a questionnaire review and routine breast exam, unless you already have your own referral.
State-of-the-Art Imaging
Images of the breasts are taken to locate any abnormal areas. We offer both standard 2D and advanced 3D digital mammography, and the choice is yours with informed consent.
Reporting
Your scan is reviewed by a Consultant Radiologist, supported by integrated Breast AI for maximum diagnostic accuracy. Reports are issued on Fridays, to you and your referrer.

Routine Screening Eligibility
We welcome all women age 40 or more, with no symptoms, pain or lumps, who have not had a mammogram in the previous 12 months. Routine checks are the most effective tool for early detection.

Regular imaging is a vital part of the monitoring process for women with a strong family history of breast cancer, or for those who have previously had treatment or surgery for breast cancer.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. A referral from your own doctor is required for all mammograms at ROC. If you do not already have one, you can book a consultation with a ROC clinician on the same day to arrange a referral.
Traditional 2D mammography takes flat images of the breast. At ROC, we use advanced 3D mammography (tomosynthesis), which captures detailed cross-sectional images, improving early cancer detection — especially in women with dense breast tissue.
A radiographer will position your breast between two plates, which gently compress the breast for a few seconds to take the X-ray images. The process is quick, and while some women feel mild discomfort, it is generally well tolerated.
All breast imaging is reviewed and reported on Fridays. A full report will be sent to you and your referring doctor.
You cannot have a repeat mammography within 12 months of a previous one, unless requested by a Breast Surgeon or you are already under follow up.
We recommend that screening checks take place annually age 40 or more.
ROC will obtain details from you of where you had your previous mammogram, and we will contact the respective hospital (NHS/private) and arrange transfer of images for comparison if applicable.
If an abnormality is identified on examination (such as a lump), the initial screening cannot proceed. You will be required to attend the One Stop Breast Clinic.
If attending the One Stop Clinic at ROC, the fee for the mammogram will be included in the arrangement between ROC and you. The remainder (which may include: breast surgeon consultation, ultrasound, biopsy etc) will need to be covered by the employee, employer or insurer.
Alternatively, the patient may be referred back to their NHS GP to proceed as part of NHS pathways.
As per above. Screening is not suitable. You need to attend the One Stop Clinic.
The examining clinician will contact you to discuss your options and further on referral.
Provided you do not have current symptoms or abnormalities, the screening can proceed.
It is recommended that you obtain details of where your previous mammogram has taken place so that our Imaging department obtains these images beforehand.
Our imaging department will arrange safe and secure transfer of images and reports.
