What Pregnancy Scans are available at ROC?

We offer a comprehensive suite of pregnancy scans for every stage of your journey. Provided we have the relevant clinical indication, we offer the following diagnostic ultrasound scans:

First Trimester Scans

  • Early Pregnancy & Viability Scans (6 – 11 weeks): To confirm viability, assess maternal structures (uterus and ovaries), and obtain an approximate gestational age.

  • First Trimester Dating Scans (11 – 14 weeks): To measure the baby (crown-rump length) for an estimated due date and determine if the pregnancy is singleton or multiple. (Please note: this scan does not include first-trimester chromosomal screening).

  • Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) Scans: Available from 10 completed weeks (See below for details).

Fertility & Follicular Tracking

  • Internal Follicular Tracking: Detailed internal scans for the purposes of IUI or IVF cycles. (Please note: Dates and times for these scans must be informed by your fertility specialist based on your stimulation protocol. Referral required).

What is Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT)?

NIPT is a highly accurate blood test that can be performed anytime from 10 completed weeks of pregnancy. It analyzes the baby’s DNA found in your bloodstream to investigate the chance of your baby having a chromosomal anomaly.

  • What it screens for: Down syndrome (Trisomy 21), Edward’s syndrome (Trisomy 18), Patau syndrome (Trisomy 13), and sex chromosome disorders.

  • Confirming the sex of your baby: Because this test analyzes the baby’s DNA, it can also confirm the sex of the baby. If you do not wish to know, you simply opt out of this part of the test.

  • The Process: A standard blood draw is taken alongside measurements from your early pregnancy ultrasound scan.

  • Results: Usually reported within 5–7 working days via email. Should you wish to discuss your test results, you can book an appointment with one of our Specialists or GPs.

What to expect when attending your baby scan?

You will be greeted by our friendly Front of House team before meeting our specialist for your ultrasound scan. The process usually takes around 20 minutes.

From 6 weeks onwards scans are usually performed abdominally, which requires a full bladder. (If abdominal views are not clear, we may advise an internal scan at the same appointment, which would require you to empty your bladder).

When will I get the results?

Within a few hours of your scan, you will receive and email with instructions on how to download your images to either PC or Laptop.

If you have consented to a genetic screening test, you will receive results 5-7 days later via email. Should you wish to discuss your test results, you can book an appointment with one of our Fertility Specialists or GPs.

How early can I request a Pregnancy Scan?

You can request an early viability scan from 5 to 6 weeks onwards to confirm your pregnancy.

What if I need to see a doctor before or after my scan?

If you require a consultation with a doctor, our experienced GPs have daily appointments available and work closely with a team of Obstetricians should expert advice be required.
