Erectile Dysfunction becomes more common with age. Approximately half of affected individuals are affected aged 40-70, rising to two-thirds of individuals over 70. Common causes of erectile dysfunction include stress, fatigue and excess alcohol, but often there may be other contributing factors.

What to expect at your first appointment?
We recommend that you attend before 11am, and having fasted if possible as blood tests may be required. If you have undertaken investigations elsewhere, or you are currently undertaking treatment please bring details along.
Prior to the appointment you will be asked to compete several questionnaires; these aim to assess your condition in detail. A doctor will be taking a thorough history, followed by examination. Tests may be recommended including testosterone, diabetes check, lipids. Occasionally a scan may be recommended.
You will be required to return to discuss the results and develop a tailored treatment plan.

What to expect from a Menopause Assessment at ROC?
Menopause assessments may take place as a sole consultation or may be as part of a health screening package.
Hormonal laboratory testing is usually recommended, as well as a gynaecological ultrasound, but these may not be necessary. If you have had testing done elsewhere, please bring along any results or reports you may have to your first appointment. These tests may be undertaken prior to your first attendance or on the same day.
Upon receipt of all information required, the doctor will discuss with you a personalised management plan that will aim to alleviate your menopause symptoms and improve your wellbeing.

What can you expect in our sexual health clinic?
Our friendly receptionist team will greet you and may ask you to fill out a form if it is your first attendance at the clinic. You will then be taken into a private and comfortable consultation room by an experienced GP who will listen to your concerns and needs. They will take a thorough history and determine the best management plan with you. If you require tests they will explain your options and discuss each one with you in as much detail as you would like.
Tests range from urine samples, swabs, and blood tests.
Other management may include advising on contraception, preventative immunisations, or PreP.
How quickly do you get the results?
In most cases your results will be available the same day or within 24 hours. These can be fed back to you by whichever communication method you prefer (telephone / e-mail / post / collection in person). Should you test positive for an STI our doctors will arrange a course of treatment. Should referral to specialists be required in more complex presentations, we have direct and confidential access to specialists.
