What do you need to know when attending a Minor Surgery Clinic?

The doctor will assess and diagnose the problem and determine suitability for possible procedures. They will then explain your options to you, including the technique used, and any pros and cons to each option. Treatment may take place during the same appointment, but occasionally another appointment may need to be scheduled to carry out the procedure.

During treatment several techniques may be used such as:

  • Shave or curettage
  • Excision and closure of a skin lesion
  • Cryotherapy
  • Cautery
  • Nail removal

You may wish to bring a friend along, especially if you are driving as a local anaesthetic may be administered and depending on the location of your lesion you may find it difficult to get about following the appointment.

Where necessary, you may need to return for stitch removal in the weeks following the procedure, our doctors will advise you on this.

I had minor surgery with Sathis Wijemanne last week, and he was excellent. Sathis was very friendly and explained everything clearly before the surgery took place. I couldn't believe how efficient and painless the entire process was. I would highly recommend Sathis to anyone looking to have a minor surgical procedure done.
