Dr. Emily Parfitt is a dedicated general practitioner based in Aberdeen, with extensive experience in family medicine. She has worked in a busy research practice in Cambridge and a large inner-city clinic in Angus, providing personalised and holistic care focused on early detection and preventive diagnostics.
Her medical interests include complex medical conditions, gut health, dermatology, child and adolescent psychiatry, and sexual-reproductive health. Dr. Parfitt graduated from Edinburgh University and completed her postgraduate training in Dundee and Northumbria. She has a strong background in acute medical, surgical, and psychiatric services, along with experience in infectious diseases, obstetrics, neonatology, orthopaedics, and emergency medicine.
Dr. Parfitt holds specialist diplomas in obstetrics-gynaecology, sexual-reproductive healthcare, and dermatology, and she is a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners. She is passionate about mentoring the next generation of doctors through teaching programs. With a degree in Medical Microbiology, she is well-equipped to address concerns related to gut health and infections. Her research contributions include published papers on childhood eczema and latex allergy, and she has received training in minor surgery.
In her previous role at a research practice in Cambridgeshire, Dr. Parfitt engaged in projects focusing on managing multiple medications and chronic pain, all while delivering primary care. Her experience in emergency care was further enhanced by her work in A&E, and she has also offered family planning services, including teen and out-of-hours clinics.
Dr. Parfitt has established specialized clinics for menopause and sexual health concerns in Angus and Aberdeen, and she has collaborated with community groups to promote healthy lifestyle changes. Before joining the frontline COVID services, she gained certification in alcohol and substance misuse management.
After the pandemic, she joined NHS Grampian, working both in teams and independently. She has received training in anthropological medicine and the health management of individuals with learning disabilities.
Outside of her medical career, Dr. Parfitt enjoys swimming, whether training for master’s competitions or coaching others. She loves sailing with her family and is passionate about gardening and beekeeping.
