She achieved her MBChB from Dundee University in 2005 after completing a BSc Hons in Medical Microbiology at Edinburgh University in 2000. Her continuing education includes a Triumvirate Leadership Certificate (2017), Diploma in Practical Dermatology from Cardiff University (2011), and several diplomas focusing on sexual and reproductive healthcare and obstetrics/gynaecology.

Dr. Emily Parfitt began her career with foundation roles in NHS Tayside, followed by a General Practice Specialist Training scheme. Her professional journey includes maternity leave, specialist training in diverse fields, and roles as a GP partner in Sawtry and Arbroath. She has been actively involved in family planning services and safeguarding vulnerable groups in her practice. 

Her commitment to medical advancement is evident in her participation in research, with notable publications and presentations in dermatological studies. She also pursues ongoing professional development through various courses, including Child Protection and Basic Life Support.
