Professional Profile and Experience

Dr Venkatraman is an experienced General Practitioner with over 25 years in medicine, more than a decade of which has been spent caring for patients across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.

She graduated from Madras Medical College, India in 1998 and went on to complete a postgraduate Diploma in Medical Radiotherapy. After moving to the UK, she worked in hospital posts at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and other Grampian hospitals. These covered diabetes and endocrinology, rheumatology, ENT, general surgery, psychiatry, emergency medicine, orthopaedics, care of the elderly, and obstetrics and gynaecology. This gave her a broad clinical foundation across both acute and long-term conditions.

Dr Venkatraman completed her GP training in Aberdeen in 2016 and became a Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners. Since then she has worked across a number of practices in the region, including as a GP Partner at a busy inner-city practice. There she also served as lead GP for a local nursing home. She continues to work in out-of-hours care, which keeps her acute skills sharp. She also supervises and teaches junior doctors, GP trainees and medical students.

She holds the Diploma of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare. She also holds Letters of Competence in subdermal implant and intrauterine techniques, and has trained in minor surgery for GPs.

Dr Venkatraman offers consultations for a wide range of medical concerns. Her areas of particular interest are Women’s Health, Contraception (including coil and implant fitting), Joint Injections, Care of Older Adults, Mental Health and Long-Term Condition Management. She is also interested in lifestyle-based approaches to chronic pain, stress and wellbeing. She is available by direct booking.
