Professional Profile and Experience

Marc Walsh is a specialist nurse in Sexual Health. Following several years working in sexual health promotion and patient support, he decided to pursue a clinical career. After graduating from Robert Gordon University with a BSc (Hons) in Adult Nursing in 2017, Marc gained a broad experience in care of the elderly, long-term condition management and post-operative rehabilitation.

From 2019 onwards, he devoted his clinical career entirely to sexual health, working at Sexual and Reproductive Health in NHS Grampian. While developing his skills as an autonomous practitioner, he was heavily involved in establishing and running several outreach services aimed at improving healthcare for at-risk groups.

In order to enhance his abilities and provide a fully comprehensive service to his patients, Marc began his training with the Institute of Psychosexual Medicine in 2020 and has provided psychosexual therapy services to his patients for several years while working toward his full diploma. He completed his Graduate Certificate in Sexual and Reproductive Health at Napier University in 2021 and his V300 Independent Non-Medical Prescriber certification at the University of Aberdeen in 2022.

His focus is upon improving the overall health and wellbeing of his patients by breaking down the stigmas surrounding sexual health and understanding the psychological and lifestyle aspects of the patient’s lived experience. His aim is to provide comprehensive assessments and individual, tailored solutions that meet the specific needs of his patients.

At ROC, he is the Nurse Team Lead (he ensures the safe delivery of clinical support services) and undertakes independent sexual health consultations and wellbeing checks.
