Professional Profile and Experience
Beatrix Elsberger is a multiple award winning Consultant Breast Surgeon at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, NHS Grampian. She leads on National Research Scotland (NRS) fellowship projects and is also an honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Aberdeen.
Since 2000 Miss Elsberger spent her medical career in the UK. She undertook her surgical training in Scotland and completed her breast surgical training with a fellowship at the Royal Womens’ Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, before becoming consultant in Aberdeen.
She is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh (FRCSEd, 2016) and a member of the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO). She was also awarded with the Breast Surgery Qualification from the European Board of Surgery (UEMS-EBS) in 2018.
She holds a PhD in Molecular Pathology from the University of Glasgow, UK (2011) and a MD in Medical Microbiology from the University of Regensburg, Germany (2007). In 2019, Dr. Elsberger was selected to join the Academic and Research Committee of the Association of Breast Surgeons UK.
Her academic interests lies in clinical trials and in translational breast cancer research.
Beatrix has authored several publications focused on the treatment of various stages of breast cancer and is still carrying out ongoing research in these areas. She is passionate about the implementation of the most recent national and international clinical studies at the Aberdeen Breast Unit, which she believes should bring the latest advances to the region, benefitting breast cancer patients locally.
