Professional Profile and Experience

Dr Lee Barry is a highly skilled and dedicated General Practitioner with extensive experience in primary care and the pharmaceutical industry. He has provided exceptional patient care within NHS Tayside since 2015. Dr Barry is committed to delivering compassionate, patient-centred care and has taken on leadership roles, including serving as GP Lead for Mental Health Angus from 2021 to 2022.

His medical interests include mental health and private GP services. Dr Barry’s medical career began after he earned his MBChB from the University of Aberdeen in 2009, following a B.Sc. in Medical Sciences from St Andrews University. His postgraduate training included roles as a Foundation Doctor and GP Specialist Trainee (GPST) with NHS Grampian, where he gained experience in psychiatry, orthopaedics, oncology, elderly care, vascular and general surgery and accident and emergency medicine. 

Since qualifying as a GP, he has served as a principal investigator for clinical trials within NHS Tayside, furthering his commitment to evidence-based medicine and patient safety. His areas of special interest include mental health care, having led service improvement initiatives during his time as GP Lead for Mental Health Angus.

Outside of his professional life, Dr Barry is a passionate musician and a self-taught guitarist. He also enjoys hands-on projects, particularly the renovation of his 18th-century fisherman’s cottage, reflecting his practical and creative nature.
