Dr Smith is a highly experienced and respected GP, with specialist interests in Dermatology and Minor Surgery. He has over 20 years of experience working within the NHS and private sectors and has also completed additional postgraduate training undertaking the Diploma in Practical Dermatology at the University of Wales, Cardiff in 2004. Dr Smith works hard to remain at the forefront of research and treatment development in these specialist areas and is currently involved with research with The University of Aberdeen. Committed to providing the safest and most effective treatments, Dr Smith was a co-developer of National Clinical Excellence Guidelines regarding the treatment of adult and childhood eczema. Dr Smith is committed to furthering clinician and medical student education, regularly speaking at national and local conferences, and has been an Honorary Senior lecturer at the University of Aberdeen for over 15yrs.
Dr Smith provides consultations and surgical appointments for a wide range of dermatological conditions and minor surgery procedures. Whilst the following list is not exhaustive, conditions he is commonly consulted upon include the following:

Mole mapping with dermatoscope
Acne – Skin lesions and moles
Rosacea – Generalised itch
Psoriasis – Undiagnosed rash
Eczema – Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis)
Alopecia (hair loss) – Skin allergies and urticaria
Skin cancer
Minor surgery:
Diagnostic skin biopsies
Excision of suspicious moles, skin lesions and some types of skin cancer
Excision of sebaceous and pilar cysts
Toenail surgery
Dr Smith is here to reassure and help you. He can also offer the added benefit that if you are seen for a dermatological issue, and require further investigation, he can undertake biopsies or lesion excision within his minor surgery appointments here at the Roc clinic.
