At ROC Private Clinic we believe that regular men’s health checks can help you live life to the fullest.

Our men’s health checks are designed by our expert medical team to:

  • Pick up medical issues in the early stages
  • Address physical and mental health problems
  • Promote positive lifestyle changes to improve wellbeing

What does a Men’s Health Check involve?

What’s involved in a men’s health check varies. At ROC Private Clinic, we offer the following services as part of our Well Man checks.

Prostate Disease Screening

The prostate is a walnut-sized gland found in the male reproductive system. Its main role is producing the fluid that helps transport sperm during sex.

The prostate is a common site for cancer to develop. Because of where the prostate is located, symptoms of prostate cancer can be missed. That is why screening for prostate cancer is so important. Getting checked early allows your medical team to detect and treat prostate cancer in its early stages.

To screen for prostate cancer your doctor can carry out an examination and a blood test.

  • Prostate Examination

The prostate can be felt through the wall of the rectum. To check your prostate for abnormalities your doctor can carry out a rectal examination. If the prostate feels enlarged or irregularly shaped your doctor may organise further tests to rule out cancer.

  • Prostate Blood Test

Your doctor can test a sample of your blood for Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA). PSA is produced by the prostate cells. PSA levels can be elevated in cancer, which is why it’s used as a screening test for prostate cancer. Unfortunately, the traditional method of testing for PSA is not completely accurate.

At ROC Private Clinic, we offer a more advanced method of prostate disease screening. We measure two different types of PSA levels – free PSA and total PSA. We then use these results to calculate the Free:Total PSA Ratio. This ratio can be used to provide an indication of your prostate cancer risk. If the risk is high, your medical team can organise further tests.

Testosterone Deficiency Testing

Testosterone deficiency can really affect your quality of life. Low testosterone levels can affect sexual performance, brain function, and general wellbeing.

Symptoms of testosterone deficiency:

  • Decreased sex drive
  • Difficulty maintaining an erection
  • Moodiness, irritability or low mood
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Loss of muscle mass

Once identified, it’s possible to treat testosterone deficiency with testosterone replacement therapy.

Erectile Dysfunction Support

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is the inability to get or maintain a full erection

For many people, a fulfilling sex life plays an important role in their happiness. At ROC we understand how distressing it can be to suffer from erectile dysfunction.

The key to successful ED treatment is a holistic assessment and a personalised treatment plan. Our doctors have a wealth of experience in assessing and treating ED. As part of our dedicated ED clinic, we offer the latest treatments, including Morenova shockwave therapy. Morenova therapy uses painless shockwaves to restore blood flow to the penis, and improve erections. You can read more about Morenova here.

Sexual Health Screening

Sexual health checks are recommended to men who have had an episode of unprotected sex, are entering a new sexual relationship, or are simply looking for peace of mind.

We offer:

  • Sexually transmitted Infection (STI) testing and treatment
  • Contraception counselling
  • Immunisations for men at higher risk of STIs
  • Counselling for pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV

We know how sensitive sexual health issues can be, and how stressful it can be to have to wait for test results and treatment. At ROC we pride ourselves in offering discreet and straightforward services, with fast results and treatment.

Bowel Cancer Screening

There are over 42,000 new cases of bowel cancer every year in the UK. This means that every day, over 115 people are diagnosed.(1)

For every 10 people with bowel cancer, only 6 will survive more than 5 years.(1) Fortunately, if detected early, bowel cancer can be successfully treated. Regular bowel screening can help your medical team detect bowel cancer at its earliest stages.

At ROC Private Clinic we offer a test called the Faecal Immunochemical Test (FIT). We send a stool sample to our labs, where it’s tested for traces of blood. If blood is detected, then our team can arrange further tests to look for bowel cancer.

Mental Health Check-Up

As part of our Well Man Check we offer a full mental health assessment. Mental health problems can drastically affect quality of life. Unfortunately, mental health problems are underdiagnosed in men, which is why regular mental health checkups are so important.

General Health

In addition to the above services we also carry out a full general health screening, including an assessment of cardiovascular health.
